How We Transform Lives

More than 70% of all parties in Los Angeles County Family Law Court try to represent themselves because they can not afford an attorney. When low-income working-poor families go to family court their main concerns are about their children’s welfare, their own safety and financial survival. Levitt & Quinn attorneys help these families protect themselves and their children during times of family upheaval.

Who We Help

Since 1981, L&Q has helped more than 30,000 people find good resolutions for thier families by providing quality legal services. Last year, L&Q made more than 300 court appearances and opened more that 850 new cases. In addition, L&Q united approximately 100 new families through step-parent and independent adoption.

People who come to L&Q seeking help are low-income working-poor people. People who earn too much for government funded free legal aid and earn little to afford a private attorney. A significant portion of Los Angeles County's population are working poor families.

How To Begin

New client in-take and orientation are on Thursday afternoons and Friday mornings. Clients are assigned to a legal team consisting of an attorney and a legal assistant who will manage their case.

At the first consult, new clients must bring with them:

  • all legal papers and documents
  • proof of income, debt, assets and expenses

All clients are charged a sliding scale fee based on their monthly income and the number of family members living in the household.

L&Q gives priority to cases involving children.

If there is a legal emergency, call L&Q at 213-482-1800 and ask to speak to a legal assistant.
